English: Seaside idyll Sea, sand and the Jolly Roger: all the ingredients of a child's perfect holiday can be found here on the Parrog. Trefdraeth/Newport has been a popular family holiday spot since Victorian times when it was 'discovered' by discerning arty types; later it became a favourite resort for Welsh miners.
Newport beach proper, a spit of which can be seen here, lies across the estuary and can only be reached, on dry land, by crossing the road bridge on the other side of the town.
